Curious about programming, electronics, and the Internet of Things but don't know how to start? Want to automate your home or workspace but not sure where to begin?
Join our practical two-day workshop at the Commons Hub Brussels, led by Hugo Herter, an experienced open-source technology expert. This hands-on event is perfect for beginners, amateurs, and anyone seeking to creatively integrate technology into daily life.
During this hands-on workshop, you will:

Build an internet-connected lamp and a plant-watering system from scratch using open-source tools.

Work with microcontrollers and learn basic MicroPython programming.

Learn practical electronics, including soldering, sensors, motors and transistors.

Understand basic internet protocols for remote control, data analysis, and notifications.
We will use MicroPython, a beginner-friendly yet powerful language ideal for small devices.
No prior experience is necessary, basic logical thinking is beneficial. Additional challenges will be offered to quick learners.
Materials
All materials will be provided and are included in the price.
Just bring a laptop with a USB-A port or adapter.

The Commons Hub Brussels is a shared space to meet, co-create, work, and organize events. It is managed as a common itself, with shared responsibilities and ownership.
